We have built a variety of buildings designed by architects and kit companies and have found many of the new innovations  or materials produced to build your " green or eco home "  often come with a heafty price tag attached ! We feel that  your money is best spent first on ensuring that your building envelope is as well insulated and air tight as reasonably possible, so the cost of whatever source you use for heating now and in the future will be reduced . We then look at what options are best suited, and available to you to supply your energy demands for hot water and space heating. Our timber framed homes are built with DOUBLE EXTERNAL FRAMES that are thermally broken between the timbers with 50-75mm of rigid insulation board. This rigid insulation continues across the floor and ceiling to give an air tight envelope, this helps solve the problem of cold bridging through the timber kit and to also form a barrier to reduce warm air escaping and cold air from penetrating your home. This is done where possible using readily available materials to help keep costs realistic.
